When to use

These factors should be used for calculating emissions resulting from activities such as:

  • Stationary fuel combustion
  • Mobile combustion of various fuels by various vehicle types across model years (including Transportation & Distribution methods)
  • Purchased electricity
  • Steam and heat usage
  • Waste generated across end-of-life treatment methods
  • Refrigerant leaks

To ensure regional alignment, these calculations should be done for activities that ideally occurred within the United States.

Limitations

  • No Well-to-tank or other Upstream Emission Factors
  • No Spend-based Emission Factors
  • No Hotel Stay Emission Factors
  • No Water Consumption or Treatment Emission Factors
  • No Hybrid or Electric Vehicle Emission Factors
  • No ticket class specifications for Air Travel Emission Factors
  • No mass/volume Emission Factors for Purchased Goods and Services
